One more in my series of posts with two beers from the same brewery. This time I started with an Odell IPA. Something pretty standard and nothing that gets me too excited, but it was good. Golden orange pour with soft white head. The aroma is orangy with notes of pine and cut grass. There are resinous pine flavors and bitter citrus. This is a very well balanced IPA. I have had this beer before and liked it more this time than I had remembered.
Next I opened up an Odell Myrcenary Double IPA. This is more or less the same beer with the hops and alcohol kicked up a notch. It pours an nice orange color with soft white head, similar to the first. The aroma is fermenting fruit and pine. The flavor is bitter with notes of apricot and a noticeable alcohol presence. I honestly liked the single IPA better; I do typically like a stronger IPA but this one didn’t do it for me. This beer just wasn’t as balanced.
