So a lot of people don’t know that SOME beer actually can mature and develop in the bottle, similar to a fine wine. Really this is growing in popularity but is still not that well known. I have a few friends who have large collections saved and I have a few myself. I say that modestly, I’ve been collecting a few things for a little over a year now and it’s piled up all too quickly. I’ll get into my cellar later and get into the specifics what and how much but its simple enough to say I’m getting too much too fast…but that’s a good thing in some respects!
Really the first rule in this kind of thing is a beer with a high ABV; but that’s not it! There are pleanty of beers that have lower ABV that cellar well, namely lambics and ciders (if you call that a beer). A lot of time you’re looking at stouts, barley wines, and strong Belgian style ales.
Anyway, this is just an intro! I’ll get into it more later…but the point is, cellaring beer, exciting!
